    Posted: 21 Sep 11 at 9:31PM
Hello there, im new to this so be gentle.

I downloaded the trial, installed, and registered per the quick start guide.

however, the control does not show up as "intalled controls" in my applications. (third party)

i downloaded a utility online that shows the available registered activex controls installed on a windows xp machine and its not on there either.

so far it's useless.

am i doing something wrong here?

help!

just as background info: i am evaluating 4 or 5 diffrerent pdf controls and so far this is the only one that is giving me this headache. as soon as i did my regsvr32 all of the other controls show up on both lists.

Hi Rick!

There are three versions out there:
Delphi-components, ActiveX and normal dll.
Perhaps you tried the normal dll-version?

Cheers, Ingo

i downloaded a demo version that included all of that stuff above.

"quick_pdf_library.exe"

the Dll im registering is inside the ActiveX folder that the installer created and it matches with the first steps to register the control in the quick start guide.

Hi Rick!

This here is only the user-user-forum...
Perhaps you should have a look on the official support pages, too:

BTW: QuickPDF will be all efforts worth ;-)

Cheers and welcome here,
Ingo

The ActiveX for Quick PDF Library does not show up as an installed control, that is correct. It is not designed to. Quick PDF Library does not provide a visual control, rather it exposes a class that you can use to build your PDF apps.

So once you've registered the Quick PDF ActiveX, then (presuming you are using Visual Studio) go to Project > Add References > COM and add Quick PDF Library as a reference. Then you can initiate the Quick PDF Library class like this (first two lines are key):

QuickPDFAX0811.PDFLibrary QP = new QuickPDFAX0811.PDFLibrary();
int result = QP.UnlockKey("your_license_key");

if (result == 1)
{
   QP.SetOrigin(1);
   QP.DrawText(100, 100, "Hello world from C#");

   QP.DrawText(300, 100, "http://www.quickpdflibrary.com/");
   QP.AddLinkToWeb(290, 85, 190, 20, "http://www.quickpdflibrary.com/", 1);

   QP.SaveToFile("HelloCSharpWorld.pdf");
}
else
{
   MessageBox.Show("Sorry, but the license key you provided could not be validated.");
}
