Hi Darkv!

A dumb answer: Yes... simply open the pdf with a reader... then you can see it ;-)
Questions like yours i have often, too.
How can i check if a pdf contains...?
QuickPDF doesn't offer functions for this issue.
What you can do is:
Take a few pdf-documents with tables in it and then open these documents directly with notepad or any other texteditor.
Search for tags which could be used for table definition.
If you are able to determine special tags for tables then you can write your own pdf-function:
Read the pdf-content into a stream -> search for your determined table-tags -> return with 1 if there are your tags or 0 if there's nothing.

Cheers, Ingo

Ingo,

Thanks for your reply which contains the right translation for my question ;-)

I'm surprized than qpdf can create / add table but does not have the way to retrieve them;
but that the way it is

I will try your recipe

PDF is a graphical format and there are many ways to generate tables -You could lines, bitmaps, patterns, fonts  and probably other methods ...  It is possible to generate a table using any of these approaches.  Visually the results from each method will be the same.

As Ingo hints, if your PDF's are all generated exactly the same way then you may be able search for tags to help identify if there are tables in your know PDF's.

Andrew.
