Sorry for my ignorance. How ZUGFerd is it different from normal PDF? What was the intention of the creators of this standard?

ZUGFeRD or FACTUR means to have "all in one".
One file as the original invoice to print or preview. Inside an embedded standard xml-structure for an easier extraction of all relevant invoice data for further automatic processes. You can say "similar to a pdf form" but in the meantime there are specials inside made by Adobe make it difficult to work on with third party tools - so Adobe won't like this new standard i think ;-) Initially it was made for public administration and smaller companies as well. |

Does this standard spcifies that it can be signed with XADES or also with PADES ?

It's a new standard for electronic invoices and contains a pdf with pdf/a-standard and an embedded xml-structure.
The tax authorities are using ZUGFeRD more and more so signing is important. Yes PAdES is possible. XAdES i don't know. |
