Is there a size limit for what can be viewed in the viewer?  I have a 500meg PDF with pictures that the viewer won't open but if i split the file in half, each half can be displayed.  Any info would be great.  Jay

Hi,

what happens if you do it?
Freeze, exception, nothing?
If "nothing" i think you didn't wait long enough ;-)

Memory usage is always a matter ...
A 500 mb pdf on disc means an object in memory with multiple size of 500 mb...

Cheers and welcome here,
Ingo

Ingo - Please know that I really like the Debenu sdk and viewer - full featured, a great price and version 12 is fast.   Is the program perfect, no, but close enough that I am building an application around it.

That being said, I appreciate the prompt reply but it might be cool if you start out thinking that maybe your customers might have actually found an issue.

This link is to a screen capture video of what happens when I try to load the file (this is my test bed form for everything I do in Debenu so I know the form works - please don't blame the form) - the file directory listing itself is also shown in the video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ai2l0qv60o76cse/debenu-size.wmv?dl=0  ( I was able to copy the address, paste it in a brower and see the video).

For what it is worth, I am able to open the file in the SDK (file handle, page count etc all work).

despite concerns that I am being impatient, the screen does not stay blank, it says "Unable to Open File".  You will also notice a message box with a .f.  (false in FoxPro) - this is the value returned by your file open command.

I sent the problematic PDF file to sales@debenu.  I have replicated the issue with other large PDFs and as I mentioned, if I split the file in half, the half file could be displayed (I was also able to open the whole file in acrobat so it is not a file corruption issue).

My email is jay@i-legal.com - if you want the file or the video sent directly to you, drop me a note.

Jay

Hi Jay,

you misunderstood ...
I'm not from Debenu - i'm a customer like you (but for many years now ;-)
BTW: You shouldn't send a 500 mb file to an email-account. I don't think that this size will come through.
You have an issue - so you should report your issue to the official page for things like this:
http://www.debenu.com/support/issue-report/" rel="nofollow - http://www.debenu.com/support/issue-report/
Debenu tells that the viewer sdk is based on the library - so i think they'll find a solution for your prob.

I've bumped into the same issue in the past and reported it to Debenu. They are aware of the fact that their library can't handle very large files for operations that require loading the file into memory.
My impression is that fixing this is not a high priority for them, either because not enough developers bump into this limitation (and report it to them) or because the fix is too complex.
