I don't understand the practical difference between Standard and Premium upgrade protection.  Historically it has taken more than a year to go from one major version to the next so I don't see the point of buying Premium vs Standard.  v12 just came out, it seems a waste to buy Premium since it will probably be more than a year for v13 (of course no guarantee - but based on history).

Is my understanding correct?

Quote:
Standard Upgrade Protection provides you with major version, e.g. 11.x to 12.x, upgrade protection for 60 days and Premium Upgrade Protection provides you with major version upgrade protection for 12 months. Minor upgrades are free.

Sometimes, my 'premium' purchase has covered more than one major release.  When it does, you make a much larger saving than the extra cost of 'premium'.  But I feel that making it a lottery dependent on how long it takes Debenu to get a release out is not the most attractive or easy-to-understand method. I would actually prefer a simple annual subscription model, as with Embarcadero.

Hey tfrost ee the snowman,  Support contacted me and said that premium can be renewed for another 12 months at a rate of 25% of a new license (at the time of me making this post).  So I guess thats about $125 a year which is plenty fine by me.
