Hi-
Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide user confirmation on one feature: can this very interesting product provide the basic DRM function of preventing a viewer of a PDF in a web browser from using the 'Save' function to copy the PDF to their computer.

If it can do so, I am very much inclined to purchase it, as so much else looks very useful. Thanks again in advance for your timely response. And have a great weekend.

Just testing the email notification will work properly.

Hi!

The function SetViewerPreferences is what you're asking for:

Cheers and welcome here,
Ingo

Hi again Ingo-
Apologies for desiring a bit more direction on this over the weekend.

That said, from my intial take on that instruction set it seems you can apply those Viewer Preferences to the PDF to suppress the browser menu bar and toolbar. I hope I'm reading that right. However, if so, while that eliminates the 'Save' function, it also removes the immediate access to the 'Print' function that I'd like to still allow.

Of course, they can right click on the PDF to bring up the 'Print' ability another way, and that'll be just fine if that's the way it is. That's because it'll be a Password encrypted file, so they won't be able to print it to a PDF to circumvent the elimination of the Save functions.

Yet, I am wondering if I might have missed anything on a (possibly more advanced) program feature that will only supress the 'Save' function on the tool bar and 'Save as...' in the 'File' dropdown, but still leave the 'Print' function available? I only ask because I have seen PDFs on some sites where that seemed to be the way it was restricted (i.e. the 'Save' and 'Save as...' functions were 'greyed out'.) Any further thoughts on that?

Thanks very much again for your help with this, and have a great weekend.

Regards-
Alan

Hi Alan!

The security options (allow print but not save for example)
you can change, too:

Try this sample:

Hi again,
It's been awhile but I am getting closer to needing that "prevent Save" function.

With due respect, looked at what you suggested previous and it all seemed to only have to do with restricting Copy, Print, Change, Add Notes, etc. Yet I did not see anything about a function to supress the 'Save' of the document to the viewer's computer.

It's probably me, as I am not really adept on this level, and maybe there is some combination of the other functions that accomplishes the specific restriction I want to utilize. That said, I would appreciate it if you might be able to get more specific on that.

If I see something that works I am very ready to download the trial as a step to purchase, and feel the other features will also be very useful at some point; but first and foremost I will need to be sure that "suppress 'Save'" function is included one way or another.

Thanks again, and apologies for the additional bother.

Regards,
Alan
