Hello from Germany to everyone on this forum. We are currently using Version 7.19 of the QuickPDF Library as a DLL and we are experiencing quite a few problems:

1) PDFs encrypted with Owner-Password to restrict permissions can be loaded with LoadFromString by setting the Password to "" with the SetAdvancePassword function. This is not possible with certain PDFs created with Acrobat. LoadFromString returns 0 (PDF could not be loaded) while LoadFromFile on the same PDF returns 2 (PDF encrypted). The PDF can be viewed in Acrobat with no password necessary. Is there a way to load these PDFs? A sample PDF can be supplied.

2) RenderPageToDC: Doesn't work corrrect when the target device context has different x and y resolutions e.g. for a fax (100 dpi/200dpi). Is there any way of rendering to a dc with different resolutions.

3) RenderPageToDC crashes when redering to a printer device context with more than 600 dpi. We have to use RenderPageToDC, as the PDF is composed with other elements, or is there another way of rendering in higher resoltions to a printer dc and combining this with other elements such as text, etc.

4) RTF text from a rich edit control printed onto a dc from GetCanvasDC doesn't display correct. If the text is underlined, the line is way to thick. If certain characters are used (e.g. Alt+0149) the text doesn't diplay at all.

5) WMF often render incorrect when using AddImageFromString and DrawImage. Errors occur less often when using GDI+ as option for the AddImageFromString function. WMF rendering has improved from 7.18 to 7.19. A sample WMF can also be supplied.

Hopefully there is (or will be) a solution to these problems, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Christian.

Hi Christian!

For point 1 it would be kind to upload some samples to any web location. So the users can make own tests telling you what to do to get the correct results or confirming that you're right ;-)
The other points you should post to the official support pages. More than 300 dpi seems to be a problem in several constellations.
Here are the official support-pages:

Cheers and welcome here,
Ingo

Hello Ingo,

thanks for the welcome. A sample secured PDF can be found under http://tetra-software.de/t4/pdf/Info_T4-Seminare.pdf - http://tetra-software.de/t4/pdf/Info_T4-Seminare.pdf . No user password was set and the PDF can be loaded with Acrobat, Foxit etc. with no password required. Only an owner password was set to restrict permissions. Loading with LoadFromString (PDF is in database) or LoadFromFile results in error resp. password required return code.

I have already posted this and the other problems as a technical support query - hope Debenu can help. Or someone in this forum has an idea - I would be very grateful.

Thanks,
Christian.

Hi!

The document can't be loaded correctly with QuickPDF.
It's like it is - don't try it any longer.
What a 100-mb-installation of the adobe reader can do
isn't that what the small QuickPDF can do ;-)

Cheers, Ingo
