Hello!

I use the extractpages() function to split a pdf file to seperate pdf files per page. The orgininal pdf file have a filesize of 5MB and contents 240 pages. While I split this pages to separate pdf files, every page on a separate pdf-file has then a filesize > 3MB. How can I reduce the filesize?
I have use the compress-functions, but there is no effect. Many pages have only text-content and there are a hand-full images inside on the hole file. What is the reason, why the splitted files are so big? Thats not really a good effect - I think...

Hope somebody can help me!

Regards

Hi Kalypso!

All things being one time in the 5 mb document
now have to be on each page 'cause each page
is a new document. Fonts, images, watermarks, ...
This can be a reason.

Hello!

Thats can be a reason, but is not really that what I inspected.
Is there a way to reduce the 5MB sizes by the separeted pages?

Many thanks for your help here...

Hi Kalypso!

If there is one image-resource shown on each page
after separation there will be 240 images (one on each
page... i would expect this ;-)

The other thing: If there are images very often it will be
jpeg-images and these images are already compressed.
If you have special fonts which are embedded you can try
to change them to standard fonts and remove the embedded
ones. Please check the online reference.

Cheers, Ingo

Hi,
To deal with large PDF files is to split the PDF files into small number of files, i.e select the page from the large PDF file and split
the selected page into new PDF file.To split the large PDF files you should go for a third party tool like PDF split tool.
Among the n number of tools i can suggest you to use SysInfoTools PDF Split tool.
It works for large PDF files and split the PDF files into small PDF files by giving page range as the input to the tool and output will be the PDF file containing the selected page range. It is the best PDF tool which i choose from the bundle of the PDF split tools.I use this tool oftenly and my friends and colleagues also use this tool in there daily routine. They are very please from this tool.

Hi All!

"Jennys" post seems to be spam ... but i'm not really sure ;-)
What "Jennys" tool can do you can do with QuickPDF, too.
"She" doesn't tell anything about the new filesizes ;-)
Perhaps we'll remove this post soon ;-)

Cheers, Ingo

The original file may be using < ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">< name="ProgId" ="Word.">< name="Generator" ="Microsoft Word 12">< name="Originator" ="Microsoft Word 12"> object streams and cross reference streams. This allows for greater compression than what QuickPDF can do.  They supposedly are working on support for these features.
