    Posted: 28 May 13 at 6:17PM
I am using RenderDocumentToFile and have successfully converted PDF to TIFF files using option #7. I am not pleased with the file size at 150 DPI so I tried option #10, G4 compression (XP with GDI+ installed) and I get an invalid TIFF file having a size of 1 KB.

I have set the GDI+ path and file name and forced the renderer engine type to GDI+, but nothing changes.

Any help is appreciated.

The documentation states that option 10 doesn't work with Windows XP.  Windows Vista is the first version of GDI+ that supports Group4 compression.

You may have to use something like LibTIFF to compress the images output from QPL to Group4 TIFF.

Thank you Andrew.

I did see the documentation, but misread it. I am going to try the Cairo route because we are stuck on XP for the moment.

The same problem exists with Cairo and option 10. Files of 1 KB are created and unreadable. I am going to test on Windows 7 and report back.

The Group 4 compression in GDI+ is only available in Vista, Win 7.  The Cairo code in QPL is only used for rendering and not for image conversion.  What version of DQPL are you using ?  9.14 includes a bug fix to allow Group4 compression in the 64bit builds of DQPL.

Andrew,

I am using version 9.13 and 32-bit XP. As I said we are stuck with XP at the moment. I do have a license of Windows 7 and 8, but I have not had a chance to test on these boxes.
