Author: ixm7
Subject: 3499
Posted: 11 Sep 17 at 1:00PM

I've been a long-term user of this library for more than 15 years. Got the source code, jumped through the various reincarnations, helped in fixing problems and improving features, am on the latest v13. But the new "promotional" upgrade prices ($1,000/$1,500) are a deal breaker.

The other thing the bothers me is that I don't need the Viewer part of the library, which seems to receive the majority of the updates & development effort in the last few years. I'd rather they spin that out to a different component and keep prices reasonable on the library functions.

I'm starting to look into alternatives. SyncFusion has a free Community license for developers with less the $1 million in annual revenues: https://www.syncfusion.com/products/file-formats/pdf. Any other good alternatives you are aware of?

I'm going to wait a while to see if Foxit decides to offer special upgrade pricing to long-term loyal customers or for customers on the latest version (v13). But I'm afraid they plan to squeeze short-term income out of this library while killing it.
